The term prophylaxis refers to medical or public health measures taken in order to prevent disease or health problems, rather than to treat or cure an existing condition. Prophylaxis is also a way to stem an outbreak of disease, or minimize the symptoms of someone who has been exposed to a disease or virus.
Primary prophylaxis includes any measure that is taken to prevent disease before it occurs. A good example of this is having your teeth professionally cleaned by a dentist. The cleaning helps to prevent plaque, tooth decay, and gum disease. Influenza A(H1N1) - update 
The situation continues to evolve rapidly.After a 33 month study in the mediterranean area in Cyprus and Greece, I could discover that the immune system, in particular among children, teachers, in tourism employees (300.000), (public traffic in banks and airports) both in the medical field (employees) is heavily damaged. Precautionary measures (PROPHYLAXIS) to an "mexican influenza," is equal to a normal influenza which already exists here. One just dies a little slower in the next autumn?! Mr. Willi Ehrlich.
